Representative Council
Representative Council Mission Statement
The Representative Council acts on behalf of the Spirit of the Lakes Congregation to oversee the general operation of the church between congregational meetings. As such, each council member listens to members of the congregation and brings the concerns, issues and interests of the congregation to bear in the work of the council.
When in meetings the Representative Council listens to issues from the congregation, teams and committees. The council discusses and defines the issues so that they can be delegated to the appropriate team for further analysis and action. The team analyzes the issue and prepares recommended solutions for the council. Finally, the council reviews and votes on the recommendation from the teams.
Most Representative Council decisions are made using the consensus process.
Representative Council Structure
- Eight voting members, elected by the congregation
- Team liaisons
- One at-large member
- 5 voting members must be in attendance for a quorum
- Non-voting participants
- 2 co-moderators
- Treasurer
- Clerk
- Co-Pastors
- Meetings are open to the congregation
- Usually held on the third Monday of each month from 6:30 to 9 PM. Contact the church office for more information
