Opportunities for Involvement

As in a community, Spirit of the Lakes offers opportunities as diverse as the individuals involved. Here are just a few ways to benefit from and be a part of the SOTL community:

Wednesday Church Night occurs just about every Wednesday from 7:00 until 8:30 PM. Offerings have included discussions of racism, gender identity, and the environment; guided meditations; Celtic and other worship services. The topic and format for each week is listed in the Sunday Bulletin and in the weekly Newsletter

Men of Spirit! welcomes men and trans men to join us each month as we gather for brunch and lively and stimulating conversations about our faith and spirituality. We support one another to grow and deepen spiritually as Christian men of spirit, and to understand more fully our place in the church and in the world by sharing stories of our faith journeys, talking about questions and challenges related to our spirituality, and by exploring themes and topics relevant to our spiritual lives. Meeting dates and locations are listed in the Sunday Bulletin and in the weekly Newsletter

Bible Study meets every other Tuesday to study, discuss, and wrestle with the Bible. Study involves putting the text in its historical context and then exploring what the text says to us in our time. No experience necessary. Bring a Bible if you have one. We benefit from many translations. Meeting dates and locations are listed in the Sunday Bulletin and in the weekly Newsletter

Worship Volunteers act as greeters, ushers, readers, communion servers, acolytes, musicians, and hospitality providers on Sunday. The worship team plans services, especially during seasons such as Advent and Lent.

Other Volunteers keep the church going. Building and grounds maintenance, fund raising, outreach, education, and other activities.
